The percentage of shopping on the TikTok application has increased by 553% in the past 12 months, with more users turning to their mobile phones to make purchases. The popular short video platform uses the hashtag TikTokMadeMeBuyIt to promote its purchases.
This increase is almost three times higher than that of Instagram, which amounted to 189%, and Facebook, which reached 160% in the same period.
But despite this increase, Instagram is still the most popular for digital shopping with 64%, followed by Facebook with 45%, and then TikTok with 24%. Pinterest has also seen a 356% growth in purchases over the past 12 months. E-commerce has seen significant growth over the past year, with consumers spending more time using social apps due to the shutdown in most of the world.
