Microsoft Edge browser/Bing search to quickly launch Xbox cloud gaming

Xbox cloud gaming is a service in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate that allows users to play dozens of Xbox console games through a browser or mobile device. A feature rolling out now allows users to access Xbox cloud gaming directly from a Bing search query, as long as Microsoft Edge is running. This is an extension of what's already available on Edge for iOS, as Apple's anti-competitive practices blocked the native Xbox Game Pass app.

Some keen-eyed Xbox fans noticed today that Xbox cloud gaming can now be launched directly from Bing itself. This has been available on iOS devices using Microsoft Edge for a while now, as Apple's anti-competitive practices prevented Xbox Game Pass from launching natively as an app, but now the feature appears to be rolling out more widely.

If a user uses Bing to search for an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate game, Microsoft will put it directly at the top of the Bing search query, giving a play button that can quickly log in and jump to the game. It's worth noting that in testing, this only seemed to work on Microsoft Edge. When trying in Chrome browser, the game box does not pop up but may have a different experience depending on location.

If users have a bad experience with Xbox cloud gaming on Android apps, it might be worth trying Microsoft Edge for PC. The Edge version of cloud gaming actually uses a different rendering engine, which may reduce the impact of network interference in some cases. Of course, users still need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Recently, Phil Spencer, the president of Microsoft Games, is suspected to have exposed the Xbox streaming console (codenamed "Keystone"), which is a small white box, which is different from all current Xbox game consoles, only larger than the Xbox control handle.
