Mercedes-Benz, Audible, and Amazon Music Redefine In-Car Audio with Dolby Atmos at CES 2024

Mercedes-Benz, Audible, and Amazon Music have unveiled their vision for the next era of in-car entertainment at CES 2024. This unprecedented partnership promises to revolutionize the way drivers and passengers experience audio storytelling and music in the confines of their vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz customers will soon be able to indulge in immersive audio storytelling and music in Dolby Atmos, a move that solidifies the luxury automaker's commitment to delivering unparalleled in-car entertainment. The collaboration leverages the cutting-edge Dolby Atmos technology integrated into the Burmester 4D and 3D Surround Sound System, available as options in Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with the latest MBUX infotainment system.

Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Chief Technology Officer, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone: "This collaboration with Audible and Amazon Music is another important facet of the digital experience in a Mercedes-Benz. Immersive audio storytelling enables our customers to benefit fully from the advanced sound technology in our vehicles. For us, unparalleled in-car entertainment is a further dimension of the hyper-personalized user experience."

The Audible and Amazon Music apps will be seamlessly integrated into the MBUX system, providing subscribers with immediate access to a growing array of audiobooks, Originals, podcasts, and music in Dolby Atmos. Subscribers will also enjoy the extensive catalogs of both streaming services. The result is an audio experience that transcends traditional boundaries, transporting listeners into a multi-dimensional world of exceptional clarity and depth.

Steve Boom, Amazon VP for Audio, Twitch, and Games, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: "Mercedes-Benz is an ideal innovative industry leader for Audible and Amazon Music to work with on evolving in-car entertainment. Vehicles are one of the places people spend the most time listening to audio storytelling and music. Bringing our brands together allows us to innovate the audio experience for customers, transforming it into something more emotional, immersive, and unexpected."

The rollout of this groundbreaking technology is set to commence in Q3 2024 via over-the-air (OTA) updates for the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLE Coupé und Cabriolet with 3rd-generation MBUX. Future models are also earmarked for the integration of this cutting-edge audio experience. Amazon Music in Dolby Atmos has been available in all models built since December 2023 with 2nd-generation MBUX.
